Chocolate Stovetop Oats

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1.25-1.5 cup milk of choice (depending on your preferred consistency)

  • *Optional: 1-2 scoops of protein powder (add in a lil extra milk/liquid if doing 2 scoops)

  • *Optional: 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt 

  • 1-2 heaped Tbsp cocoa powder (depending on how bitter/chocolate-y you want it)

  • 1-2 Tbsp maple syrup 

Instructions

  1. Add the oats, milk, and salt (+ protein powder/vanilla extract if using) to a bowl and microwave for ~2 minutes, until it bubbles up. (If you’re feeling fancier you can also add all ingredients to a small pot and heat over medium-low heat on the stovetop for a few minutes until thickened).

  2. Add in the cocoa powder + maple syrup and give it a good whisk until no more cocoa clumps remain.

  3. Top with your favorite toppings (I love an extra drizzle of maple syrup, some sliced banana + peanut butter) and enjoy!
